The Zephyranthes

Ariel Freeman

I grew up wanting to be an artist. However, my love for art took a different direction in adulthood and I became a nurse. My education in art is mostly self-directed in watercolor and pastel painting. I am inspired by everyday moments; ones that make me pause, take a deep breath, or just take a closer look. Mostly, I paint for the joy of creating and depicting beauty: sometimes overt, other times the beauty of line, texture, composition, or a message to the viewer. As a nurse, I have shared and witnessed moments of the human experience common to us all, both noble and tragic. These encounters continue to influence me as an artist and how I view and appreciate art. Art is a valuable healing experience for both the creator and the observer.
